The bronze statue of The Risen Christ was created by renowned sculptor Terry Stringer in 1999.  It was commissioned by the Anglican Diocese of Christchurch as a Millennium gift to the city and was placed outside the Anglican Cathedral in Cathedral SquareThe Cathedral was severely damaged in the Christchurch earthquakes
